Greetings Troop 114-

This Saturday, June 1^st, we will be holding a Can & Bottle Drive from 9am to 12pm at the Town Hall.

To be successful, we need everyone to come help out.  2013 Philmont Scout Ranch and National Jamboree participants should all plan to attend.

Scouts should arrive (in class-B shirts) by 8:45am and plan to stay until 1:00pm.

Good Morning Troop 114 Families!

Another scouting year is coming to a close.  Where has the time gone?  Due to a Mohegan Council event on June 11th, our end-of-year picnic is now scheduled for Tuesday, June 18th at 6PM at Dean Park.  We realize there will be a conflict for the 8th graders, as it is the same evening as the 8th Grade Carnival.  We are sorry that there will be a conflict, but we were running out of days to hold the picnic.

Our celebration will include dinner and awards.  The troop will provide hot dogs & hamburgers.  We ask that families bring the following, according to where they fall in the alphabet:

A-I: Drinks & chips
J-P:  Desserts
Q-Z:  Side Dish

As with the February Awards banquet, we ask that you label your dish with ingredients for those who have allergies (wheat, egg, milk, soy, nuts, garlic, etc.).  We also ask that you RSVP to me with your family name and headcount, so we can plan the burgers & hot dog supplies.  Please RSVP by Sunday, June 9th!

On Saturday, March 23^rd, we have two activities for which all scouts should be preparing and planning to attend:

1:00pm – 3:00pm              Food Drive to benefit Saint Anne’s Food Bank

Troop 114 will collect, transport, sort and shelve donations for St. Anne’s Food Bank to distribute.  Each scout will receive a plastic grocery bag into which they should collect donations of the items listed on the slip inside the bag.  These bags should be brought to a troop meeting or to the Food Drive on March 23^rd.

On the 23^rd, we will meet at the Congregational Church at 12noon to collect and load the donation bags for transportation to St. Anne’s, where we will unload the donations and place them on the appropriate shelves at the Food Bank.

Class-B uniforms should be worn.

We will have a sign-up sheet at Tuesday’s meeting… please volunteer to help.

5:00pm – 7:00pm              Annual Pasta Supper

It’s time, once again, for Troop 114′s annual Pasta Supper!  This is a major fund raiser for our adventure program and all participants in the Philmont Scout Ranch trip this summer must attend.

The menu will include pasta with sauce, meatballs, salad, bread, beverages and homemade desserts.  The cost is still only $7 per person and children under 5 eat free!

All scouts will be issued 10 tickets to sell… the resulting $70 should be returned by Tuesday, March 19^th.  Unsold tickets must be returned (but I’d rather you sell them J).

We ask that all scout families bring a desert to share at the Past Dinner.

Class-A uniforms must be worn.

We will have a sign-up sheet at Tuesday’s meeting… shifts will include a set-up crew (4pm-7pm) and a clean-up crew (5pm-8pm).

Collect your food… sell your tickets… mark your calendars.

Boy Scout Troop 114 will be holding their 9th Annual Pasta Supper on Saturday, March 23rd, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury.  The menu will include pasta with sauce, meatballs, salad, bread, beverages and homemade desserts!  Tickets are $7 per person and children under 5 eat free. Proceeds of the supper will be used to support scout participation at Philmont High adventure program in New Mexico this summer.  Thank you for supporting Troop 114.

Please save your Super Bowl party empties for Boy Scout Troop 114′s winter Bottle and Can Drive.  It will be held on Saturday, February 9th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Town Hall, 100 Maple Avenue in Shrewsbury. Clean and dry beer boxes will be most appreciated.  Proceeds of the Bottle Drive will be used for CPR training for the troop. Thank you for supporting Boy Scouting in Shrewsbury!!

Greetings Troop 114-

Our June Campout (the last of the 2011-2012 scout year) will be June 15^th – 17^th.  We will be headed to Aquapaug Scout Reservation in Rhode Island and during the day on Saturday, we will attend the Rhode Island Air Show at Quonset Point.

Please return the permission slip 2012_06_15_17_Aquapaug.doc and payment ($30 per person) by Tuesday, June 5^th.

To make both events successful, we need everyone to come help out.  Maine High Adventure participants must attend.

Scouts should arrive (in class-B shirts) by 8:45am and plan to stay until 12:30pm.

Both events will be held rain or shine.

Please save your redeemable bottles and cans for Troop 114’s spring Bottle and Can Drive.  It will be held on Saturday, June 9th from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Town Hall, 100 Maple Avenue in Shrewsbury. Clean and dry beer boxes will be most appreciated. Troop 114 will also be offering a free car wash at Town Hall that morning, with donations being gratefully accepted. Proceeds of the car wash will be used to support the troop’s high adventure to the Alligash Watershed in Maine. Thank you for supporting Boy Scouting in Shrewsbury!
