Troop 114 Holiday Celebration

Our next meeting will be the last of 2011… so let’s have a party!

We ask that each scout bring two things to our holiday celebration:

1. A wrapped gift for the Yankee Swap… not to exceed $10 in value, and

2. Tasty treats, based on the following patrol assignments:
• Scouts in the Ace of Spades Patrol should bring baked goods (i.e. cake, brownies, cookies, etc.)
• Scouts in the Stealth Bombers Patrol should bring baked goods (i.e. cake, brownies, cookies, etc.)
• Scouts in the Nuclear Patrol should bring salty snacks (i.e. chips, nachos, nuts, etc.)
• Scouts in the Happy Toaster Patrol should bring drinks
• Scouts in the Flaming Stick Man Patrol should bring drinks
• Scouts in the US Border Patrol should bring anything else.

The celebration will be held at 7pm in the church basement… same time and place of our regular troop meeting. Scouts should wear Class-B uniforms (a.k.a. any boy scout t-shirt).

See you Tuesday!
Mr. Spurr

Fall Clean-up Service Project

This Saturday (November 19th), we will be raking leaves and performing other Fall clean-up services at the Congregational Church in Shrewsbury.  We will meet in the church parking lot at 9:00am.

The church has graciously provided a home for Troop 114 for many years… this weekend represents a small opportunity to give something back!

Please bring work gloves and any yard-maintenance tools you can (i.e. rakes, shovels, wheel barrows, push brooms, etc).

Class-B uniforms should be worn by all scouts.

Annual Parent-Son Camping Trip

This past weekend Troop 114 held our annual Parent-Son campout.  We stayed at Pittsfield State Forest.  On Saturday, we drove to Jiminy Peak Ski Resort and spent the day climing, zip lining, balancing, falling, riding the alpine slide and the mountain coaster at the Outdoor Adventure Park.  Everyone had a great time.

On Saturday evening we had a great dinner and enjoyed reliving events of the day.

We also met Ruthie BenDor who was on day three of her bicycle trip across the country.  She is a web developer who, besides seeking adventure, is interested in talking with people about how the web can help to make life better.  She had dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday before resuming her journey.  She plans to finish her trip in San Fransisco sometime in September.  If you’re interested, you can follow her journey at http://www.cyclingcoder.com.
